ATA is proud to present a mini-series of three prints—T-Motor, T-Bus, and T-Carmel—on 100% Israeli cotton T-shirts, as a tribute to Israel’s automotive and transportation industries.
The story of ATA is a story of local industry and how it all began. We thought that if we’re here in 2024, we’d like to complete the picture and tell the story of other industries that once existed here.
Since many of our thoughts on clothing are also tied to movement—how we get from place to place and how that affects what we wear—we started with the automotive industry.
In 1957, a small workshop in Haifa that manufactured tricycles changed its name to Autocars and began producing the Sabra, Israel’s first car. This was followed by the Susita, which became a local success story and a part of our collective memory.
In 1933, the Egged cooperative was founded, providing public transportation services between major cities, as well as to settlements and neighboring countries.
The cooperative’s name was given by Chaim Nachman Bialik, Israel’s national poet. Just a small reminder—Shmuel Yosef Agnon was the one who gave meaning to ATA’s initials.
We invite you to join us on a journey through time via this mini-series—a tribute to Israel’s automotive and transportation industries.
