The Anemone Pin Project in Memory of the Victims of October 7

Already on that Saturday, it was clear that this tragedy would not be remembered as “just another round of fighting in the Gaza border region.”

But I waited.

I waited for my mother and little brother to manage to leave the kibbutz and come to us.

I waited for my friends back home to answer my messages.

I waited for names, for faces, for good news—

and also for the bad news, which came endlessly.

I waited (and searched) for an idea to create something that would not only cause pain, because I already had too many of those.

It was clear to me that this day would be etched into our lives as an additional annual day of remembrance in Israel—one that does not compete with or replace the national Memorial Day, but exists alongside it.

This is how the Anemone Pin Project was born, in memory of the victims of October 7.

The anemone, whose blossom has become one of the symbols of the western Negev, represents the memory of those murdered in the events of the Black Saturday of October 2023. This year marks the second year of the project.

All proceeds—100%—are donated to support the communities of the Gaza border region and to sustain the continuation of the project. To date, over 40,000 pins have been sold.
