WIW T-Shirt

“What If Women Ruled the World” is the title of a project created by the artist Yael Bartana in 2016, aimed at exploring a world governed by men.

The WIW project began in 2015 with a neon artwork displayed in various museums and galleries worldwide.

In 2020, we made a T-shirt based on this work. Beyond our appreciation for the artwork and the question it raises, the timing coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic. Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Taiwan, and New Zealand handled the coronavirus crisis effectively and responsibly, with the common factor being that they were led by women.

Six years have passed since then, during which the question has come up repeatedly in different contexts. Each time, we thought that reality was surpassing imagination, not anticipating the turbulent years we would go through.

Who rules whom and why is a complex and troubling issue in every human interaction. "What would happen if?" I hope that one day we will know or at least try to see how things could be different.
